Our maternity unit was built in 2013 and we offer a full range of services for more than 5,000 women and families every year based in the hospital and community setting, ranging from specialist care for women who need closer monitoring, by our consultant-led teams on our state-of-the-art delivery suite, to our beautiful midwife-led birth centre with birthing pools or our community home birth service for low risk women with healthy pregnancies.

Birth Centre

The Birth Centre has eight birthing rooms, four with purpose built birthing pools to enable water births

Facilities include: Ensuite bathrooms in every room, TVs and double beds in every room

Private rooms are available.

Delivery Suite

The Labour Ward has 15 birthing roomsand two inflatable birthing pool.

Facilities include: Two Obstetric theatres, High dependancy unit, recovery area,en-suite rooms, birthing balls.

Home birth

Home birth are available for women who live in the NMUH area.

If you would like a home birth or would like more information please ask your midwife. If you decide a home birth is right for you it will be discussed again with you at 36 weeks to ensure your pregnancy is still straight forward.
